Abstract

The expression of patriotism and national identity in Urdu poetry has been a fundamental aspect of the literary tradition, especially during periods of socio-political change. This article explores how renowned poets of Urdu literature have employed patriotic themes to shape the national consciousness and identity. It delves into the ways poets have portrayed love for the homeland, sacrifices for the nation, and the role of Urdu poetry in fostering a collective sense of belonging. By analyzing the works of key figures such as Allama Iqbal, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, and others, the article assesses the evolution of these themes from colonial resistance to post-independence expressions of national pride.
